BRIDGE
Between the Generationan and Other People x Vivienne Westwood
The main idea of the collection following the path of contemporary fashion designer who has adopted the aesthetics and technique of deconstruction with personal concept. My design concept is a reflection of a personal experience which is my latest trip in my summer holiday. My memory is based on the past. I went to Erzincan with my family to sell my family's house. It was a very big house. My grandmother spent her youth and grew up in there. I found a chest while i was walking around the house. My grandmother's youth clothes came out when i opened the chest. I tried all the clothes and my grandmother gave them all to me. It was a very emotional moment. Now, in my everyday clothes I try to combine these clothes from the past in a modern way and it feels like i am giving a life to my grandmother's youth days which connects the past and modernity. Her style lives and growing with me. When I do that, I believe that.
My designer is Vivienne Westwood who is behind the feeling of collection. I choose this memory because it basically matches her way of thinking. She is known for punk style. The collection represents the elements of Punk subculture; it has a DIY ethic. Repurposed Punk is also rebellion against fast fashion and consumption. Vivienne Westwood has a very famous sentence about this; " Buy less, choose well and do it yourself!" . Some of the pieces that composed the collection were made with second-hand clothing and deconstructed because they have a value like my grandmother' youth clothes. The aim of the collection giving value to the clothes that lost their value and adding stories to pieces.
